| Herbal Remedies for SyphilisSyphilis is a contagious venereal disease. At the time of commencement it shows a characteristic sore at the site of the infection. In later stages, it produces morbid conditions similar to those produced by leprosy and tuberculosis. The disease affects only human and is communicated through sexual intercourse. A small ulcer appears at the site of the infection which is accompanied by a typical hardness of tissues immediately around and beneath it, and characterized by resistance to all healing treatment. This is the primary stage of syphilis. The sore may not occasion any discomfort and may even go unnoticed. But after sometime, lymphatic glands round the sore and also all over the body become swollen and hard. This condition may last for some weeks, after which the secondary stage begins. It commences with fever and loss of appetite, vague pains throughout the body and a faint red rash seen best on the chest. From here onwards, the spread of the disease is quick; the hair may start falling and there may be bloodlessness, the appearance of sores in the mouth and the throat, headache and mental deterioration. There may also be painful swelling on the bones. The final stage develops after the lapse of some months or years. Masses of granulation tissue appear throughout the body. They are hard nodules or there may be tumor like masses in the muscles. The final blow is the diseases of the arteries and the nervous system. Syphilis may be acquired from persons already suffering from it or it may be inherited from one or both parents. When the transfer of the infection is through heredity, the child might be a dead birth, or the woman may abort or have a miscarriage. If ever the child is born, the secondary stage symptoms appear a few weeks after its birth.
