PMS, also known as the Premenstrual Syndrome, is a common problem among many women. While most often deal with it easily because they are used to the pain, or the level of discomfort is not too high, there are some women who find it very difficult to tackle this situation, and it’s almost as if womanhoods starts to seem like a punishment to them. The extreme cases of PMS are characterised by extreme pain in the abdominal area along with the lower back, thighs and the legs. The abdominal pain most of the times occurs in cramps which are very disturbing in nature. Also, some women face a lot of fatigue and tiredness. Most women cannot undertake extreme physical activity that causes stress to the whole body.
One of the simplest techniques of dealing with the pain caused by the cramps is to keep a hot water bottle on your tummy for relief. It will ease off the pain and will give some comfort. Along with that, you can consume good amount of carrot juice. It helps to decrease the amount of salt in the body, which is the main reason behind the pain and bloating. The flow of the blood too becomes smooth with regular consumption of the juice.
Next, it is very important to ensure that you are consuming foods rich in calcium during and before your menstruation period. You can include foods like spinach and yoghurt. At the same time, you should try and avoid foods which have excess of salt, sugar or oil, which can increase the pressure and pain in your stomach. Follow a light diet which is full of fresh fruits and vegetables, and consume more of natural foods instead of going in for the canned or the tinned alternatives, which have a lot of preservatives in them.
Evening Primrose is often chewed by many women to lessen the discomfort during PMS. These days, the same can be found in the form of capsules too. Though, you must take the capsules only after consulting your doctor.
Consumption of alcohol is definitely something that you should keep in check when you are under the phase of premenstrual syndrome. At the same time, avoid intake of too much of caffeine as well. For many people, taking heavy meals is not a very good idea, as it too can cause a lot of discomfort. Therefore, you can take small and light meals, the frequency of which can be fixed by you depending on your comfort.
If you are already practising yoga or meditation, then you should continue their lighter forms during PMS too, for added relief. Also, make sure that at no point of time are you cutting down or compromising on your consumption of water. Drinking a lot of water on a daily basis is a must, and that is even more important in case of the Pre Menstrual Syndrome. Rest, it is just a matter of a few days, and surely every woman can live with it with simple home remedies.
