Secondly, food eating habits need to be kept in check. Those having oily skin need to eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables that help to cleanse the internal system of the body. With a well functioning system, all the excess oil and harmful toxins get removed. Also, the person gets a feeling of being light and healthy. This is because eating fresh fruits and vegetables helps the body and skin to maintain the natural moisture levels - not going above it, not going below it.
Junk food and preserved food (which is available in cans or tins) should be avoided. Foods such as chips and burgers lead to a lot of oil in the body. Other fried items too such as salty snacks or chicken nuggets, French Fries etc. as well must be avoided. Many experts suggest that pickles should also be consumed in less quantity.

Natural face packs that can be created at home are also very good for curing problems of oily skin. A face pack with crushed coriander, cucumber and tea tree oil is very good. Cucumber has Aloe Vera, which is considered to be a very important agent in most of the cosmetics that aim at treating oily skin. Another alternative could be to prepare a face pack of mashed apples with honey. Leave this for about 20 minutes on your face, and the clean with a damp towel. You will instantly feel the difference.
It is important to note that if oily skin is not treated at the right time, it can cause severe acne, which may eventually lead to other problems of scars and blemishes on the skin. Hence, its best to work on the root cause itself - oily skin- before it gets worse.
