Skin Abscess, more commonly known as boils on the skin are a problem that a lot of people suffer from. This is more common with dancers, athletes, sportsperson, gymnasts etc. who workout for long hours wearing sport shoes. Even labourers who have their feet in closed shoes for long hours in a day can face this problem. Skin Abscess is basically a condition in which a boil is developed on the skin because of localised infection. It can happen due to extreme heat or sweat, or due to the skin being unclean for a long period of time. Mostly, it happens on the feet of a person, but sometimes it can happen in other areas as well.
At first the boil develops like a tender red bump on the skin, which soon hardens. It also has the tendency to have white blood cells collected in it, which can be more commonly referred to as pus. It is at this point that the boil can become really irritating and can cause problems in walking if it has occurred on the feet. Usually, it takes almost a week before the pus starts to drain away after the boil bursts.
It is important to treat skin abscess as soon as it is detected, because it has a tendency to grow and lead to other problems as well. The infection, thus, needs to be kept under control right from the beginning.
While most people go in for antibiotics which help to cure the problem, there are certain home remedies that one can also follow simultaneously to get added relief and effect. These are simple, safe and secure, because most of the ingredients are available easily at one's home, and there are no harmful chemical elements; only natural and easily available substances are used in such remedies.
One of the most common home remedies for skin abscess is to roast pomegranate skin and then powder it, and mix it along with some lime juice to be applied on the skin. The mixture helps to treat the boils very quickly. Neem paste, made out of crushed neem leaves can also be applied on the boils as herbal treatment. Neem also helps to take the itchiness away and gives a cooling and relaxing sensation.
Next, you can boil fenugreek seeds in water for about 10 minutes and then apply their poultice on the boils as good treatment. Alternately, milk cream can also be used to treat the boils. It is good to mix milk cream with vinegar and some turmeric to be applied on the boils. This treatment is considered to be best for boils filled with blood.
Garlic and onion juices are good to help in evacuating the pus out of the boil. Hence, applying these juices will serve as a method for you to get rid of the pus, and eventually the boil much quickly.
All these tried and tested home remedies have been used a lot by people in the old times, and they still serve as effective ways to get rid of skin abscess.
