In urban areas where there is a lot of industrial waste, pollution, dirt and other such things, one cannot really be away from different kinds of skin allergies. It may be some public transport that you had used that caused the allergy, or it could be a public toilet. It could simply be some kind of outside food that you ate and the effect started to show on your skin, or it could even be the washing powder that you are using for your clothes, or the disinfectant that you are using to clean your house. Skin allergies can indeed happen to anyone at any point of time, and you can never be too sure of the reason, for they can be so many sources of getting the allergy.
Under these circumstances, it is important for everyone to know some basic home remedies that help to deal with skin allergies. It must be remembered that if skin allergies are ignored or left unattended for a long time, then they can spread and become worse. Therefore, it is best to cure them as soon as possible before the problem goes out of control.
Rashes and itching happen to occur most commonly. They can be a result of sweat or heat, or use of public toilet etc. One must remember that rashes in their initial stages can be dealt with very easily, but if one starts scratching the rash because of the itchiness and the irritation, then it is a little difficult to cure it soon. Hence, babies and children (who have a tendency to scratch themselves to blood) should be carefully supervised, and warm coconut oil should be rubbed over the rash to help it heal faster. The affected area should remain clean at all times, and hence, it is best to keep cleaning it with a damp cloth. Mild soaps should be used, if required.
Next, a starch bath should be prepared, as it helps to get rid of the itchiness and irritation caused by most skin allergies. You can mix one tablespoon of starch with 2-3 teaspoons of cold water, and them mix it with half a litre of boiling water. The starch could either be potato starch or rice starch.
Keeping the affected area clean is of utmost importance. Hence, it is best to leave the area open for air to penetrate easily. For babies, if the rash is anywhere below the waistline, then it is best to avoid making them wear diapers for a little while. Also, keep washing the affected area with mild soaps and cleansers so that there is no accumulation of germs.
Herbal creams are available in the market these days, which help to cure a lot of skin allergies. One should go for these instead of choosing high chemical ones. Herbal creams are made of natural ingredients such as neem or tulsi, and hence, they are safe and more effective. They also help to cure the allergy faster without any kind of side-effects.
